Packaging Statement
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Solberg’s packaging procedures are intended to maximize protection for shipped products while using minimal amounts of packaging materials. The packaging materials used are responsibly sourced with the goal of minimizing environmental impact. We use a variety of packaging products derived from plant-based materials and synthetics. When feasible, recycled and recyclable materials are selected. This statement covers 95% of packaging materials used:
Plant-Based Packaging Material Usage
Cornstarch pads are used to provide protection against minor impacts that occur during transit and material handling. This material is reusable and biodegradable.
Crumpled paper is used to fill space and protect against minor impacts that occur during transit and material handling operations. This material is reusable or recyclable.
Corrugated cardboard boxes, pads, and inserts are used to protect against minor impacts that occur during transit and material handling operations. Includes recycled content is reusable, and material is recyclable.
Synthetic Packaging Material Usage
Polyethylene bags are sometimes used to help protect the finish on painted and polished surfaces. The larger bags have recycled content, while the smaller ones are made of virgin material that can be reused or recycled.
Polyethylene stretch wrap is used to secure the boxes on the pallet for multi-box shipments. Our stretch wrap is virgin material and is recyclable.
Polypropylene banding is used to secure boxes to pallets. This is required to minimize shifting of boxes and damage to boxed products during transit. The material is recyclable at certain locations.
